Mia Stanton
Violin 1
Music Chair supported by:
Dr Pamela Greet and Mr Nicholas Beaton
Mia grew up in a musical family and was first inspired to take lessons after listening to the sounds of her father playing jazz piano as a young girl.
Fostered by the Canberra music community throughout her school years, she had violin and piano lessons, played in youth orchestras, and various bands. She held scholarships at Narrabundah College and the ANU Open School of Music, during which time she completed her AMusA on piano, and LMusA on violin. Her music study continued at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) in 2018 with Associate Professor Alice Waten and then went on to study at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) with Dr Robin Wilson and Zoe Bläck.
Mia loves orchestral playing and has performed with orchestras across Australia and New Zealand. She has worked with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra’s Momentum Ensemble, and Ensemble APEX. In 2018 she was selected as an Emerging Artist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and toured with the ACO Collective. With the ANAM Orchestra she was able to join the ACO for their 2020 tour of Beethoven 1st, 2nd & 3rd Symphonies.
Chamber music has always been close to Mia’s heart and in 2017 and 2018 she was able participate in the Estivo Chamber Music summer School in Verona, Italy with her wonderful quartets from the Sydney Conservatorium.
